Not to leave you in the lurch about the teeth-- they're still just swollen nubs on the gumline, but she still acts like she's teething so I know they're coming soon. Maybe a week or 2 more? I don't know anything about these baby things.

Today was supposed to be an 8 on the fitness weather forecast, but we were shortchanged by about thirty degrees. It never got above 45. Dianaverse, Daisy, e-baby and I braved the arctic winds and went hiking anyway.

Really, we had no choice but to hike. You see, last week I decided to revive Chuck, my pet sourdough and this week I've been refining my whole wheat sourdough bread recipe, so Dianaverse and I had to sample all the variations, fresh out of the oven, with melty butter. The hike was necessary to burn off some small portion of those calories. Poor SNG was at work all day today and had to eat cold bread when he got home. But tomorrow I will make 2 more loaves and he will be home to enjoy them.

The w.w. sourdough bread recipe is still in its refinement stages, but I got a real boost yesterday-- MyLittlePony told me about using the Kitchen Aid for kneading the dough, and oh yeah that works! I was able to make the dough with a lot less flour, and it made all the difference. Light, crusty outside, soft inside, mellow flavor and pungent-sour aroma. The only thing I'd like to improve is the size of the holes (you know, the bubbles). I'd like to get them bigger. Maybe I need to change Chuck's diet. I don't know anything about these sourdough things. But my pet sourdough is from San Francisco and allegedly dates back to the 1800's sometime and it makes nice, sour bread if you use white flour. I've been trying to train Chuck to make whole wheat bread for the last 6 years, and only just now is he starting to listen to me. The Kitchen Aid thing was brilliant.

Mmmm... any chance you can shove one of those loaves of sourdough bread into your carry-on when you come out here? I think I might need to try that.

We really need to live closer together. I have a french bread recipe that is to die for and DH got me the best kitchen aid mixer ever a couple of years ago!
Our own LG is coming along nicely. She keeps waking the cat up when the cat has decided it is time to snuggle in my lap. Never saw the cat levitate before now, but the first kick was felt by all!
Just making 24 weeks so still have more time ahead of us. Have to keep up with e-baby's stages so I know what to expect soon enough!
Hope ya'll are doing great. We're still our here in the sun if you want to venture forth! Will keep you apprised about our house search up in Whidbey. Will be flying up next month. Have our eye on a new development on the southern part of the island. It is on a lake and you get about 1.25 acres for gads less that we paid for this place.
Should get. Was going to go for the second daily walk (I learn from the master!) but we are making up for all of the rain we haven't gotten yet this season!
Take care!

Whidbey? I didn't know where that was, so I looked it up. From Google-Earth it looks like a great location (as long as you don't have to go to Seattle very often). On our last trip to Seattle, I did a really good job of getting lost for fun on ferry system and the roads on the islands. The trees were amazing.

I wish e-baby and I could jet to San Diego and see you right now! But we will get together eventually. Once you move, I'd like to make a trip out there with SNG and e-baby. Then the guys can go eat whales or whatever manly Pacific-NW men do, and all the babies (yours, mine, and PIC's) and their mommies can get together to play! By then I will hopefully have perfected my whole wheat sourdough recipe. :-)
I hope that didn't make me sound like a prairie muffin. We can listen to L7 while we bake. Teach the girrrls right.
