The Best Article of Baby Clothes, Ever

Of all the baby clothes we have for Jambuca, hands-down my favorite is the man-dress. It's the most practical thing ever.

Man-dress

It's like a sleepy-sack, but completely open at the bottom. When he's tiny, his legs can stay curled up inside like a frog. As he gets bigger, he can stretch out long. Midnight diapering is easy because there are no snaps or zippers to confuse a bleary-eyed parent. It should fit for a long time, too!
We have three man-dresses, and I think I may have to dress him in them until Kindergarten.

Not only are they practical-- they're cute. I just don't know whether the manufacturer intended for them to be called man-dresses. But if anyone can make such a thing look macho, Jambuca can.

I know lots of moms swear by them, but I hated them when c-baby was tiny. She got upset every time her feet stuck out, which was pretty much all the time. And I didn't think they were easier for diaper changes than footie pj's with snaps, so that's what we stuck with.
They are awfully cute on him, though. And I love the argyle one.

And if he doesn't like his feet poking out, just put socks on him!
He still looks like his big sister, but no missing that he's a boy.

What a looker! Very cute in whatever you put on him!

He spends most of his time with his feet covered by a blanket, so the cold feet haven't been an issue. That, and he sleeps about 23 1/2 hours a day, so really nothing much bothers him. I was surprised I got a picture of him with his eyes open.

Back in the distant mists of time they dressed boys in skirts and dresses until they were potty trained.

That would be just about right.

When you kids were little, the sack part was longer and had a drawstring so the baby's feet never stuck out. It was sort of like putting the baby in a sleeping bag with sleeves that opened at both ends. I found them to be very practical and both of mine slept in those, especially in the winter time, until they began to walk, then the garments were a hazard to their bones and the kids needed footie p.j.s for mobility.
